The third explosion at the JFK library pretty much confirms its a terrorist attack.

Prayers go out to those in Boston..

It's still early , I saw the uncut footage and it's just horrible

They just said that the library was mechanical failure and not connected...

Is the NY Post a good site for information? I know they have plenty of editorials/pundit/celebrity pieces, but they are reporting that a Saudi National is being detained at the local hospital.

The Post is never a good site for anything but sensationalism but hopefully they caught someone. Hopefully this is not a case of profiling. I would not put it past The Post.

According to Boston PD as of 5:41 pm there were no suspects in any type of custody.

nod They are also reporting that 12 people dead. I don't know how credible it is, but I also wouldn't want to jump at the first news organization who claims to have breaking news.

Pointless to speculate too much but: small homemade bombs, Patriots Day, Boston. Reeks of homegrown terrorism. Some tea party nutcase perhaps.

Plus the 26 mile marker was commemorating Newtown. Sounds more and more homegrown.

Tragic whatever the cause.

I find it difficult to believe anyone who supports the Tea Party would have anything to do with something like this. Speculation wise, I would say no way.

Perhaps my naivety of american stereotypes coming through. Reeks of some NRA, separatist, militia, extreme libertarian type shit though. Ah, I see I've indulged in more stereotypes. Oops.

I hope so. If it is political, it would be someone very deranged. I cannot imagine Americans doing something like this for purely political reasons.

Maybe it is MY naivety coming through.

Want to bet there's no political motive behind this? At least according to the perpetrator. Whomever is responsible.

How is that relevant? The symbolism is vast (if my rather amateur and possible inappropriate guessing is correct. Which it might not be. Obviously.)

I think we as Americans are very divided on a lot of issues, but we will not arbitrarily harm each other over it. Deranged individuals working independently maybe, but not politically organized groups. No way.

I agree it's not likely to be a political group but it is probable it is politically motivated.

It does reek of amateurism, so if it is homegrown, I would wager it is indeed an individual or small group.

When bombs go off how are gun "freaks" relevant? Have a separate conversation instead of standing up for Supa.

I think it's incredibly naive to rule out anything at this point. Nothing to do except keep those affected in our thoughts and wait for more info.

There is nothing naive about terrorism. Anything can be pointed to, but The big O "has jumped to conclussions" when it suited his agenda. You know if guns were involved the tone would be totally different.

Facts will be spun. We're now in to several attacks under his watch.
