I think Trump is going about this all wrong. Every time he comes out and talks about this book he's making me want to read it. If he just ignored it nobody would be talking about it. The fact that he's going crazy about it on Twitter is just going to lead to more sales. It's like he's secretly promoting it.

The whole thing reminds me of that episode of Father Ted where Bishop Brennan gets Ted to protest outside the cinema because they're showing The Passion of St. Tibulus. And then the movie becomes such a big hit because of the protests. I can just imagine Trump standing outside book shops in Washington DC with his little picket signs going "Down with this sort of thing" and "careful now".

That's one of my favourite scenes. I can't resist posting it. biggrin

I notice it's become a bit of a meme. You see people on demonstrations with that written on their signs these days, which generally amuses me but also makes me think we've become incapable of doing anything in a non-ironic way.

Don't know if The Book will it hurt Trump but this might

Trump defends his sanity amid questions about his mental state

""Lawmakers were saying they have been very concerned about this, the President's dangerousness, the dangers that his mental instability poses on the nation," said the psychiatrist, Dr. Bandy X. Lee, in a phone interview on Thursday.

Mr. Trump is showing signs of impairment that the average person could not see," Lee said. "He is becoming very unstable very quickly. There is a need for neuropsychiatric evaluation that would demonstrate his capacity to serve."

Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, has introduced a bill called the "Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity Act," which would use the 25th Amendment of the Constitution to create a "body" to determine whether the President is unable to execute the powers and duties of his office.

Raskin, who attended Lee's presentation, said on Thursday that Trump's behavior is "increasingly delusional" and there should be an independent body to evaluate his fitness.
"We got some serious stuff to deal with and instead we're caught up every day in what looks like the country debating the mental health of the President, so it's a very dangerous and unstable situation as a number of Republican senators have themselves observed," Raskin said on CNN."

biggrin razz

Trump's 'very stable genius' tweet shows he isn't

And "His tweets came in reaction to the less-than-flattering picture painted of him in Michael Wolff's new book, "Fire and Fury." The portrait of Trump is of someone viewed as a child by those who work for him and who appears to act that way as well -- impetuous, bullying and unaware of what he doesn't know. Wolff himself has said that those around Trump believe he is deteriorating mentally."

Sounds like he's nuts omfg

A book is not going to hurt Trump. It will mostly be read by people who already thought he is an idiot.
I may disagree with everything you say, but I will defend your right to say it.

I had no interest in the book until Trump came out telling everyone how full of lies it is. Now I'm curious. It might only be read by people who think he's an idiot and unfit to lead a country and childish and mentally unstable etc but at the very least, it should be entertaining. Although I think his reaction to it is probably funnier than anything in the book, I'll still read it.

That statement in and of itself shows his lack of intelligence.

(Bolded part of trump’s statement)He could have said ‘intelligent’ but instead he says “.. being like, really smart.” falloff

This is what trump supporters got out of their beds for to vote into office. Says a lot about them doesn’t it? falloff

I am not enamored of the single interviews with people we don't know. Doesn't prove they are not true but no actual book would rely on single witnesses we cannot vet.

The writer of the book said he has notes and tapes.

I just hope he has those in a very safe place.

Who knows if the publishers office or the writers home gets broken into by a bunch of goons.

Several credible news organizations say their contacts White House corroberate the core of what Wolfe has written in the book so it rings true. We've been hearing about this ever since 45 took office and the twittering escalated.

As for the book... Are a few of the names a bit askew - sure. But just because a quote was attributed to this one instead of that one - does not negate the quote itself. By and large - Wolfe's depictoin of the WH seems to be spot on.

You know, in the late 1960s someone (A. J. Weberman) was going through Bob Dylan's garbage inventing the science of "Dylanology" and "garbology" to get into the mind of the most celebrated of all rock stars. What seems to be happening with Trump is the exact opposite: people digging in whatever garbage they can find to bring their anti-hero down.

45 has taunted the media all along - calling them all but Fox News "fake" and "dishonest." If I were an investigative reporter or a news outlet - I'd not stop until the last stone was unturned.
