The passing of time...

I was just going through the list of stars we lost in 2017 and came across this photo of actress Connie Sawyer. She died last year at 105. And she worked right into 2017. But I look at her here, still full of life and looking at the background, her home, her life, her things... I had this 'moment' of sadness. The moment passed and I cannot describe it anymore.

.

But I was talking with a friend yesterday, about Prince, and the times we came of age. How our generation is passing into 'legend' and the next generations are coming into their own of sorts.

.

Time...

.

How do you feel about seeing/hearing the time period you came of age, passing off into time? Has there been a moment when it hit you, that time is really moving?

I remember some years ago, while at work, I sat next to a friend who I went to High School with, and around noon a local radio station would play the 'oldies'. So we had the radio station on and she said 'Oh my God do you remember that jam? that was my song etc' and the next one we had the same reaction, until it hit us that 'our songs' were now the 'oldies'

I believe timelines are linear. There is a spirit world the fifth dimension and if you go there and come back to earth you have to write down everything on paper who you are so you remember. Dead relatives, dead animals are in that dimension. We can reincarnate but it is not even like time moved when we die it is so fast. I believe we decide to come back and sometimes we decide to stay in the spirit world. Life is sort of like going and watching a movie and we are here to learn a lesson. I'm a spirit that may reincarnate as another race or animal or anything and I have to remember that from my perspective in the now.

I think we can all collectively say.

The passing of time is made worse by Western youth culture.

.

I don't regret my age because it represents my experience. I like my "oldies" but my car radio is almost always on Triple J - An Australian "youth" station that plays almost entirely new alternative music with a strong Australian content. I know I am getting old but I am not going out easy.

.

A wedding in Australia is all about youth and beginnings (and the Bride's mother). At a wedding in Myanmar my wife and I were in Bridal procession as the "lucky couple" - A long term married couple who had never been divorced. Each year during the water festival I get facebook pictures from Myanmar of my neices's parents honouring their surviving parent with prayers (literally kneeling before her) and food.

I'm still only 27 but even I have started to notice that my tastes in music and movies are now considered "old fashioned" and that I think the world has gotten far too politically correct. Remember the movie "Demolition Man"? That's what the world is turning into.

there is truth here

I would not change my time period on this earth for youth now. I'm so glad I lived the 70s 80s early90s...
LOL that is funny, I too can tell 'old' people when they refuse to listen to anything new

I try to keep up a little.
I think the 2nd time period that it hit me that I wasn't 'young' anymore was when I ventured into one of the malls I grew up going to, and I noticed my clothing was bigger and baggier than most people around me. The 'skinny jean' was in and I didn't get the memo.
