De Niro has been ranting and insulting for quite some time now, and I understand why, but still.....what´s the point?

He´ll only convince the Trump voters to vote for him a second time since they seem to be immune to facts and take things very emotionally.

The same goes for other autocrats in other countries. Their fanbase does not care about facts and does care about insults and emotions.

This will only help Trump win a second term.

A smarter form of protest would make more sense.

This is far from smart and very short sighted.

I don't think that the point is to change minds, but to express righteous anger, and absolute disgust. Whatever you thought of De Niro's statement, it was real....

When you come up with a smarter form of protest Kool - I'm all ears. Meanwhile, Bobby DeNiro ain't stupid or probably short sighted either. We need people like him.

Well by that perspective, then it shouldn’t matter what anyone says about trump since you’re saying trump voters will vote for trump regardless. It doesn’t guarantee trump will win again. At the end of the day, it all depends on if he gets a strong democratic opponent to challenge him, who could win enough voters to get trump out of office.

Trying to remember. Looked it up, I don't think so. Did you like it? There's a funny story on wiki about the filming. Brando heckling the director, DeNiro stepped in.

During the production, Brando repeatedly argued with Oz and called him "Miss Piggy", the Muppet whom Oz played from 1976 to 2001.[1][2] Oz later blamed himself for the tension and cited his tendency to be confrontational rather than nurturing in response to Brando's acting style.[3] Brando eventually refused to take direction from Oz and insisted that De Niro direct his scenes.[4] "There was one scene–two days of shooting–when Marlon was too upset with me to act while I was on the set," Oz admits. "I watched from outside, with a monitor, and Bob was very good and acted as mediator between us."[5]

Probably neither. DeNiro has said that he will speak out against Trump at every opportunity that he gets, as "to stay silent in the face of such villainy is to be complicit "

Why doesn't he spell out what the villainy is? I'm a fan of his acting, but I've yet to hear him utter a single substantive or intelligent critique of Trump. Just shouting insults actually turns people off if it's not backed up with specific points.

Liberals seem determined to help Trump win a second term. They helped him win in 2016. All the signs are they are repeating the trick now.

Yeah, you're right, it was the Russians who rigged the Democratic primary for Shillary Clinton. It was the Russians who made her run a right wing election campaign that ignored the hardships of ordinary people. They also told her to sit at home for weeks at a time during the campaign and not even to bother visiting key states.

They also made Obama completely break all his promises of change in 2008 and 2012 which disillusioned millions of voters and contributed to the record low turnout this time around. Here's a New York Times article about that. I recommend you read it.

DeNiro has spoken many times about Trump's racism, his constant lying, his refusal to release his tax returns, his stiffing of people he's hired, and other fraudulent business practices.

Of course, some Trump apologists won't be satisfied unless he wrote a 400 page book detailing every Trump misdeed, or else have no right to have an opinion or speak out on the matter.

Does seem a bit contradictory....

I quoted the New York Times precisely because I know that publications like that are so revered by people like you. My own view is that they have to be approached with extreme caution since they have conflicts of interest. And yes, Thomas Jefferson's quote still applies today. They lie and deceive frequently.

That doesn't mean everything they write is false. The article I quoted was written in the immediate aftermath of the election loss. For a brief moment you had a few people here and there telling the truth. That NYT article was one example.

That moment was extremely brief and even at the time it was drowned out by propagandists insanely screaming "Jill Stein!" at the tops of their voices. You yourself even swallowed that bizarre and absurd excuse jj. Then your leaders gave you the Russia excuse and that's been your default setting ever since.
