Ken Burns: Vietnam War

Great documentary now playing on Netflix. Pretty detailed explanation for both those who know them well, as well as those of us who don’t. Heartbreaking how foolish this whole crazy thing was.

I watched it on PBS - a very good documentary. There is a lot to derive about what happened then to what is happening now in American and world politics.

It's a must see. nod

if you are having a hard time finding a legitimate reason to abandon faith in the american government and their duty to serve its people, watch this film.

Stunning how bad the US behaved from the Get-go. And how easily it could have been prevented. The saddest part for me was them thinking that the US would side with them in their quest for freedom and even quoting Lincoln and freedom from French occupation. We were true villains here in every sense of the word.

Really want to watch this, I hear a lot of people praising the soundtrack/score of it.

Yes do. The thing that pisses me off now is that seemingly nothing was learned from the experience. We had no right to be in Viet Nam unless we understood the culture and its past on a granular level to be able to help them negotiate to bringing the country together as a whole.

And what is worse, we think nothing of invading Afghanistan to rid them of Taliban, then after we left, they came back

We raided Iraq because of sopposed WMA without unstanding the Suni and Shiite and brought on ISIS.

I love my country but get extremely pissed off with the constant war machine. Why don't we back off of other countries and use war money to fix our OWN goddamn stuff that is 50 year behind every one else. Our pulic transportation compared to China, Japan and Korea is third world.

Okay, I'll step off soapbox
