As opposed to voting left? lol

The biggest race in my district is for our representitive to congress. The choices being Andy Barr (R) who has been on my shitlist for a long time, Amy McGrath (D) who isn't much better. I was happy to learn that 2 independants and a Libertarian were running against them and was in the process of studying up on them to make my choice... then in an interview on local radio, McGrath stated that she believes that a woman that is 9 months pregnant, on the way to the hospital to give birth, should have the choice to change her mind and have an abortion instead. That's a crazy, extremist position so I held my nose and voted for Barr.

Is that what you mean by voting "right", 2stupid?

I think there should be a cutoff, waaaaay before 9 months. I'm not a scientist, so, I don't know where the cutoff should be. If the unborn baby can feel pain and responds to oustide stimuli (like music for example) then I am against it. If it's before that, I don't approve but also do not want a law making it illegal.

But, why would you even go there when the example I gave of McGrath's opinion is an EXTREME one? Do YOU think that a woman should have the choice to "abort" a ninth month pregnancy?

I'll be darned - there's no such thing as a "ninth month abortion" for women who, at the last moment, decide they really don't want to be a mother after all.

I guess you wasted your vote. And funny this should revolve around the same fake issue that Donald Trump raised in 2016? Wow, what a coincidence that you and Trump believe the same misinformation.

Maybe you should use the googles the next time?

https://www.nrcc.org/2018...-shocking/

Dr. Jen Gunter, an OB-GYN who has performed many late-term abortions, was quick to clear things up on her blog:

There are no ninth month abortions. Really. A ninth month abortion is a unicorn and so it’s ridiculous to even discuss it. Terminations after 24 weeks are for severe fetal anomalies.

So what was Trump talking about? His statement harkened back to the misleading term “partial birth abortion” — a term that has no medical meaning but is interpreted to mean a later-term abortion. The term was coined as a political phrase in 1995 by the anti-abortion advocacy organization the National Right to Life, in an effort to prevent second trimester abortions. It’s not a medical term because there is no such thing as a partial-birth abortion, much as there is no such thing as a nine-month abortion.

In an article on Vox.com, Dr. Gunter explains,

I’m a doctor who was trained to do late-term abortions. I did them for five years in residency and for 10 years in practice and I have no idea what Trump is talking about. I have even practiced in states with no gestational age limit for abortions. So while I no longer perform abortions, I know much more about this subject than Donald Trump or any of his advisers can ever hope to know.

I'll put your trump derangement syndrome aside, as, it has absolutely nothing to do with McGrath's words or my decision.

Whether it happens or not, she said that SHE BELIEVES A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE THAT CHOICE. Hers is an extremist position. I'm also against the extremist position of those that would never allow an abortion.

So, nice try, but you fail again in your attempts to paint me as a trumper.

Or....she refused to answer what was clearly a red herring.

Either way, you never took the time to use the googles to see if her position was actually "extreme" or not.

How does it feel to know you wasted your vote on a politician who supports the Trumpclown you profess to hate, all because you didn't use the googles?

You should refrain from making assumptions because you're sooo bad at it.

She didn't refuse to answer. She was first asked about her opinions on abortion after the 5th month. When she answered that it should be a woman's choice, even AFTER 5 months, she was then asked "what about 9 months, what about a woman on her way to give birth, should the woman still have a "choice"". She DID answer. Her answer was the woman should have the choice.

She could have replied by saying that such a scenario never happens. She CHOSE to answer that such a woman should have a choice.

I don't need to google if her position is extreme or not. I know that her position is extreme.

I didn't waste my vote. I've also never "professed to hate" the trumpclown. I don't hate him, don't love him, he's just a goofy clown. He's what our fucked up, false paradigm of a 2 party system has wrought and the number one reason he's our current president is: hillary clinton. Absolutely ANYBODY else would have beat him. ANYBODY. I don't need googles to see that. lol

Sooooo.....a guy who professes to hate the 2-party system and has on more than one occasion said he's an Independent ditches a candidate at the last minute over an out-of-context interview that occurred six months ago. Said voter failed to use the googles to determine the validity of the claim against McGrath, nor did said voter - a self-professed Independent - vote for the independent OR either of the TWO Libertarians in the race. No, this voter "held his nose" and voted for the candidate endorsed by Donald Trump.

Hmmmm, something doesn't add up.

Keep making ASSumptions. That's what an ASS does. lol

I didn't "ditch" anybody "at the last minute". I had barely begun to read up on the 3 alternatives, made no choices yet, "ditched" no one. Much less "at the last minute". I made this decision a month and a half ago.

I did not take the quote "out of context". I listened to the entire interview. Did you?

Why would I need to use google? I heard the entire interview with my own ears. Can google invalidate what I heard and convince me I didn't really hear her say that? lol

It was 1 libertarian and 2 independents... maybe you need to google better? Are you under the ASSumption that "independents" only vote for the "independent party"? lol That's not what it means to be an independent voter. It means you vote independently rather that along party lines, genius.

I voted for somebody who supports the trumpclown. So what? Half the candidates support him. What? You think I'm going to join the resistance and vote all democrats? No thanks! I'll make my decisions on an individual basis instead.

Hitch up your britches, [Snip - luv4u]. Your ass is showing! lol lol

They even had the main polling office opened for those who wanted to vote last weekend, saturday and sunday. I saw that, I didn't go. I did the whole Tuesday ritual. My daughter was stretched out on her bed Tuesday morning filing out her ballot so she could just drop it off on her way to work. My son, voted a week earlier, as usual. All that to say there were so many options available.

But I love voting at the polling place! I do not mind the lines or being inside an elementary school auditorium. I stand with my neighbors in line and we chat and relish the act of voting as our fundamental right. I get a sense of real camaraderie when I vote - in addition to political offices we are participating in making important decisions about our own communities. It is a privilege and I look forward to it every time.
