Nov 6 2018 election today.

I am going to stay away from the news’s until about 6pm tonight. At least that’s my goal. I dropped off my ballot yesterday and there were quite a bit of people there.

If you haven’t voted yet, Go out ther and do it becasue every vote counts. Do it for your own piece of mind!
Crooked Donnie. Lock him up!

How about some predictions? This seems like a good thread for them! Here are mine:

HOUSE
Democrats pick up 30 seats, take over the House.

SENATE
Democrats pick up 3 seats and lose 1, and take the Senate. But we won't know the results until way past midnight, because I think a lot of races are going down to the wire, including Nevada and Arizona out west. I think Beto will win Texas. I really do see a great young voter turn-out removing alleged senator Rafael Cruz from office

GOVERNORS
Democratic wipe out. With the exception of Texas, I can see the Dems taking almost all the races - even Georgia, although that is another one that will come down to the wire.

STATE HOUSES
Again, a Democratic landslide. And just in time for the next census!

DONALD TRUMP
Emotion aside, I see him as the biggest loser of the night. It will be up to Nancy Pelosi and (ugh) Chuck Schumer to kick him when he's down, and keep kicking him down. That's what they should do and I'm going that make it clear them in the coming months. If they try to work with him, he'll eat them for lunch. You think our president has lied and cheated? You haven't seen anything yet

.

After Brexit and Trump becoming president, I'll pass on trying to predict what'll happen. Will certainly be interesting though, even for those of us across the pond!

It never ceases to amaze me how cruel humans can be against fellow humans and animals, especially when in the pursuit of money and power.

Rodeo (there is no need to quote the entire post a third time), that's not a prediction, that's wishful thinking. Say whatever you want about Trump, but he's tougher than you might think. Even in Holland, I see support for Trump. Not much, but it's there. There are more and more people everywhere in the world who are disappointed with politics and turn to outsiders like Trump. Or Bolsonaro in Brazil. Or vote Brexit.

Wishful thinking maybe on the Senate races but on the House races, I'm predicting less Democratic seats than most pollsters are.

My basis on the Senate races is Millenial turn-out. After months of wondering why in the heck our young people don't vote, I'll be danged if they didn't come out and vote in very large numbers in early voting. Millenials definitely skew left. Although it's possible many could vote third-party and screw things up, I think they'll break more Democratic than not.

Or, if you want go higher, then you've got to go deep (as a famous musician once said!). Here is my deep thinking:

In America, we have gerrymandering. You probably know what that is but just in case, it's the rigging of the design of the House districts to favor the incumbent. It was last done by Republicans, so many many many House districts are drawn to unfairly tilt the vote to the GOP.

And yet...there's almost no one that doesn't predict a Democratic swing of 30+ seats in the House. That means that despite egregious gerrymandering, Democratic turn-out will carry the day.

So if Democrats in districts designed for them to lose are still turning out in large enough numbers to win, why wouldn't we think that will carry over in statewide races? Logic would dictate that if Democratic turn-out is high in a Republican district, it's going to be high statewide.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! (At least until tomorrow morning, LOL.)

You are way more optomistic than I am. I think the cheating will be enough to keep most republicans in power. I am willing to be shocked as all hell though.

For God’s sakes, they really should hold elections on Saturdays. I mean like really! For so many many valid reasons.

...and while we are at it, Halloween’s should be on Saturday’s too so teachers don’t have to deal with wired-up kids the day after Halloween.

LOL. My position is that I'm going to like how some races turn out, and not like how others turn out. Hopefully I'll like more than I dislike but either way, there will be booze!

Same here. I was cautiously optimistic(and stated that on here) that Trump wouldn't be elected President, and we see how that turned out. So, for the most part, i have very little faith in any kind of justice, or accountability, or major push back etc etc, against trump and the republican party. I know a lot of people(on both sides) are fired up, but in term's of democrats, liberals, progressives or independents, will enough people get out in vote, to make a difference? I hope and pray so, but who really knows.

I'm already sick and tired of hearing that damn idiot boast about his perceived accomplishments, that it would be unimaginable to think of how he will act if republicans keep the house, and make other across the board gains.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

No you don’t. You’re a hyper partisan and only go by party hive-mind.
You call Beto a “phony” for whatever made-up reason yet “Canadian” Ted is the real phony. Everything he says sounds highly calculated and programmed by the party to prey on the elderly and/or ignorant Texans.

The goood people of a Texas deserve better than a ted type partisan shikester that manouvers throught the system manipulating the elderly and racist and stupid to get votes. That’s the only way a piece of shit like Ted can win.

Ted is so phony he doesn’t even come off as a real life human.
