It felt a bit rushed but I think they did their best with what little time they had.I was pleased to see Shelby, Adrian and Justine Walpole speak a bit.Eryn Allen Kane's interview segments were very sweet and emotional and she seems like she genuinely loved Prince.Andy's segments were a bit vague. What was shown didn't really give much insight into their relationship last year but I assume from what she said about the P&M shows that they were in touch. The end was very emotional and I would have liked a performance instead.

[Edited 1/3/18 11:51am]

Yes I feel Andy’s segment were vague as well I wonder if that was because she was still being guarded and never really let them “in”. On the other hand Ceelo and eryan and Van were very sincere. I loved the way Ceelo described P after the show. That was/is what I need to hear, those last bits. I know that perhaps that is meant only for family but a few are nice and help close the wound for me. Edited to add: not that Andy was in anyway insincere. [Edited 1/3/18 17:31pm]

I just watched it again and I loved that bit with Ceelo too and he did seem very sincere. He and Prince must have been pretty close.I agree that Andy came across as being guarded though they may have cut some of her footage out.She lost her composure during her speech at Prince's Apollo induction and seemed frustrated about it and may have been trying to keep that from happening again.

I assume she probably did or someone else confirmed it.Andy hasn't said anything about the documentary and she doesn't seem to want to draw attention to her involvement. She also seems to want to keep things private.I would have liked if they had showed a bit more about the conversation concerning the P&M shows. It looked like she had been talking for a while when they started the clip...same when she was discussing RocknRoll LoveAffair.Would have liked to hear more from her,Shelby,Adrian,Eryn and Justine.

I would like to hear from 3rd Eye Girl and Josh. They were more recent-even Judith

I would like a 2 hour long documentary of interviews with all of his associates from the past five years.I would like to hear their views on their working relationship with him and the recording process of the last projects.Donna and Ida were in town during the interviews for the documentary but they may have not wanted to participate.

I mean there is still a lot of stuff in there that we will most likely ever know. I am sure we will never hear from Kirk J, but we have heard some details from Judith about the flight, that she is talking to him and then realizing his eyes are closed. I know that people dont want to hear the word addicted but think about how he at one moment is with CeeLo and he asks about him playing an aftershow and Prince saying NO i am getting on a plane, he was either in severe pain from the concert oh took something then and there before getting on that plane. I am glad that at times it was noted his appearance CHANGE, another thing that people like to say was his hair or clothing choice but reality is he was showing signs of his addiction but this also to ME shows that his addiction was very recent, I dont think he had a problem that was throughout his life, didnt beleive that when the rumors started and still dont, I think once you can see his physical change I think this is where the addictions were kicking in. And I just think it was an embarassment to him that HE was now addicted he might and probably was ashamed as some have said and in reality his severe privacy was his demise.

Well if one moment he was upstairs after a concert with him and then a few hours later or less he is od’d on a plane that is an addict that needs something quick

I was also amazed how quick if/when things went downhill. From the footage shown he was dancing his voice was never weak right up to his sudden death. I can only think it was taken longer to recover from these appearences and he was in pain after these events.

The closets people to him at the time Josh/3rdeye/Kirk/Judith all know how/what happened but i cant ever see them speak out

—-According to Andrian Chruthfield he said he spoke to Prince by phone a day before the show and Prince told him not to come to Atlanta because there was going to be no aftershow.

My personal feeling is that of acceptance, and this documentary really helped me come to terms with the chain of events again. I think the initial Atlanta cancellation, unconsciousness on the flight, Judith Hill's account of that, the Paisley appearance, and the final realisation that help was needed and on its way are all the clues we need.

It seems to me that painkillers that he may have been taking for some considerable time due to hip/joint issues were really taking their toll in those final few months (meaning I assume that the cumulative effect of those sorts of drugs on your system gets worse and worse as their effectiveness wears of and the body becomes more and more immune to them, leading to higher doses, changes in type of drug etc).

I'm always struck with melancholy and sadness of how Prince's final year(s) turned out from a pain point of view. Although it seemed sudden to us, as he always appeared pretty lucid, active, and alert on stage, I now don't think it was a sudden thing at all. Just like his ageing was a bit of an illusion - so was this. He looked perpetually young until around 1999-2003, into his 40s. I think he started to look a fair bit older in the face from 2004 onwards. There was no magic at work here, he was human not ageless. I was lucky enough to see him on the UK hit and run shows in early 2014 and of course he looked older, but physically he was still damn good for 55.

Watching those (admittedly indistinct) clips and photos on the documentary, I think he definitely looked older still (which he was), thinner, drawn, tired but I don't think he knew he was about to die, reflectiveness of lyrics like Way Back Home can probably be put down just to him getting older. He certainly seemed to have a lot planned (taking the Piano and Microphone tour further afield, the memoir publishing, the new recordings that I feel would have definitely led to yet another album release). But the pain and these damn opioids, sudden withdrawal, and re-dosing just got him before he even had a chance to try and right it all properly. Too damn late.

Why do you want to hear from them when outside of maybe Judith no one is going to say anything about what he was privately going through? Kirk’s is locked up in a vault with the key thrown away and Josh & Hannah have done little to no press since Prince’s passing. Adrian Crutchfield did speak out on Funkenberry’s podcast but I doubt he was really on the inside. IMO anyone expecting the family or insiders to give them closure or provide answers need to move on because it’s not going to happen. Nothing any of them would say will bring Prince back so at this point I don’t need to know the intimate details of the last months of his life. If he wanted it to be our business he would have told us when he was still alive.

The thing isn’t we are not going to know how long he was taking medication, when pain actually started to be severe. I think he kept almost everything private even how much pain he was in, so when I hear Van Jones say his hip hurt a lot that to me is very vague and does not draw a timeline for me, I mean even Morris Hayes said he had pain in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Judith Hill to me is similar to Andy she was just there at times, Judith has already shared her story on the plane and I think for the most part she was in the dark, which leaves Kirk and since he was with him all the time he most likely he has all the answers well at least most of the answers.

I did okay, until the end. They showed my tweet to him and then stated that he had tweeted that he was feeling those things. I'll never get that corrected. So to the Prince fans, Prince didn't tweet that he was feeling rejuvenated, feeling inspired, feeling loved. I tweeted that to him two days after the final concert. He just didn't know how to retweet properly and copied and pasted it.

He hated when people changed his words around in interviews and such. I'm sure he would not like having words put on him that he never said (or wrote).

I always thought it was kind of cute that he didn’t know how to properly reply to tweets or use the quote tweet features. He actually made it a lot harder on himself with the copy paste method. lol

lol It *was* cute, but not so cute when they are saying YOUR words belong to someone else. hmmph. I tried contacting CNN regarding their story of the timeline leading up to....and telling them they got it wrong and asking them to correct it. It hit hard when I was watching CNN that Friday after and suddenly seeing my tweet show up on TV and them saying Prince said he was feeling rejuvenated. And now this documentary... ugh.

I told my ex back then that I should not be a part of *that* timeline and he said, "You were always a part of that timeline."

The most Hannah has said was on her Facebook live last year and she was very loving and respectful but seemed pretty protective of him and his privacy-It's still on her FB.She may have been asked to be interviewed but declined.Adrian posted on his FB yesterday that he was pleased with the documentary and he felt they did a nice job with it.With the backlash that Judith received from the NYT interview and the People article last April when after it was posted she tweeted that she hated journalism, she may not want to speak about it again. It's probably difficult for her as well since she seems to have cared deeply for Prince. At this point I want to hear stories about his life and working with him such as what Shelby is doing on Facebook.I appreciate her sharing her uplifting, positive accounts.

Just as a matter of curiosity, if it's a legitimate TV channel, why is it not allowed? I understand the rule about bootlegs / unofficial YT clips etc - but this is a 'proper' UK TV channel, and an authorised programme, so I am a wee bit confused...Thank you! smile

That is a stretch. You have no basis for the conclusion you have drawn. The Chef reported that he was not eating food prepared for him so he may have had problems with eating that caused his weight loss. Even if he took medications for his pain and anxiety that does not make him an addict. We need to be careful about the conclusions we draw and post on social media sites. You did not know Prince personally so you are just surmising about what may have happened.
