LOVE4ONEANOTHER - My End of Year Reflection

LOVE4ONEANOTHER

I understand the level of importance this site and our Facebook page has garnered, and I understand the level of professionalism required to be a part of it. I do not take that responsibility for granted, and I am extremely proud to be able to represent this site and page.

At this time of year I usually write a snippet or something that involves my love of, and how much we all miss Prince. I try to be honest and humble when I do so, and the response from you wonderful people has always been so profoundly generous and heartwarming.

This year, it is especially hard to write this – as, you all know, my 20 year old son, Alex Sanchez-Robinson was suddenly killed in an unfortunate accident in January of this year, and it changed my outlook on everything I have ever believed in and/or cared about.

I find it hard to talk of Prince’s passing and put the same level of loss in comparison to my sons death. In looking at that then, when I heard of his death I almost ended up in the hospital after suffering a panic attack. My son’s death, however, rocked my entire level of existence. I even remarked, Prince’s death, in comparison, is puppy chow.

I don’t mean any offense in saying so, it just is what it is. My son was a beautiful, young, amazing and talented person, who should be here, and it pains me every day to wake up and to realize every day that we’ve lost him. There’s nothing harder.

But to now experience such loss, it makes my feelings about loss more heavy. As we sit here and continue to mourn Prince, which we do, we need to take stock of our lives and reach out to those who are actually in our lives and hug them, tell them you love them, and make your time with your loved ones memorable.

I’m not saying that what we do here is not important. It is. And I’m not saying that remembering Prince is wrong … it’s not. I consider this one of my greatest joys that has continued on and on. I’m just saying we can do so, and keep our perspectives in check.

I will forever be thankful that my last words to my son were, “I love you” and his to me were the same. I hope all of you can say those words to those you love and care for every day.

In honor of my son:
Alex René Sanchez-Robinson
June 22, 1997 – January 12, 2018

In honor of our hero:
Prince Rogers Nelson
June 07, 1958 – April 21, 2016

On behalf of prince.org staff and admins, I thank you for your continued support.

My heart breaks for your loss. No parent should ever have to experience this. I didn't know about your son's passing until today as I don't post on here often and only go to certain threads. If I could give you some words of advice they would be to hang onto the sound of his laughter as that is what he would want you to do. Every time you remember his laughter he will be there with you. Much love to you.
