Listen, from seconds 00:05 to 00:10 is this Prince on the guitar........?

Madonna use to be a VERY sexy alluring woman. She just oozed sex appeal.

So Prince, whom fought 4 his first record deal & got it, fought 4 a movie deal & got it, fought 4 freedom from his WB contract & got it, fought 4 his masters & got them.Gets a curable illness & says 2 himself ok, I'm done. "Life is a Box Of Chocolates"

I don t care much for Madonna, but I love this song, and I found extremely disappointing that his biggest hit was remixed instead of the original, when I listened to it. I didn't know at the time that Prince was involved.
.
I didn't buy it, but I could have, and they could at least mention in the back of the cover art it s not the version everybody uses to know

Oh for crying out loud, ALL of the tracks were remixes. Go read https://en.wikipedia.org/...Collection . And Prince didn't get royalties from "Like A Prayer".

Thanks God, I m gonna hear it again in March.
.
A few weeks after that listening a friend of mine told me Bad was the less interesting track from the album. I couldn't let him do that after hearing the multitrack, and couldn't help thinking he was an idiot.
.
The estate of MJ should have released multitrack compilations, they are really stupid, a lot more stupid than Prince s estate

The YouTube channel is by one of the mods here, as well as other Prince podcasts deserve major props in being able to get people to talk to them. It is an important task to document all of this. I know it’s done as a labor of love but in time we will realize how important it was to document the lives and insights by Prince associates. Those willing talk to them also do it for the love.
But major props and an important work for future generations. Also major props to all those Prince associates who have participated. Thank you all.

What's absurd is you believing Prince "walked out of the studio" during this. He was never in a studio with Michael. He was sent the track. You are under the impession that Michael was granted any artist he wanted because he was Michael Jackson. Also not true, and naive. Michael wanted Barbra Striesand to duet with him on "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" - but, as you are aware, that ain't Barbra singing on that song. Your snide and attempted demeaning post is just that. Attempted. Chill out and think before you post.

I never said or implied what you are pretending I m saying or implying.
I never said he walked out of the studio for instance, you are talking BS. .
I never said Prince or Streisand were supposed to lick MJ's butt neither. .
So take a deep breath and look closely at my post. .
The whole story smells BS and that was my point. [Edited 1/7/19 14:42pm]

Your choice of expressions speak for themselves: "lick MJ's butt", is that Freudian?
Or do you always address opinions contrary to yours in such fashion?

Keep on inventing stuff in your head in order to feed your "define me" agenda.
We'll stick to the facts. You'd be very welcome to ignore this post,
it's not adressed to you in particular. It's just for public awareness.

Quincy Jones has gone on record - a while ago, (so this is old news for a lot of you) saying MJ asked Prince to be co-singer on what was initially supposed to be a duet with him for the song, Bad.

--

Prince's infamous response in a Chris Rock interview, in his best sarcastic "Camille" type attitude was, "The first lyric in the song is 'Your butt is mine', who's saying that to whom? 'Cause I ain't singing that to you, and sure as hell ain't singing that to me!” *

--

With his response, he (according to Susan Rogers) sent him a redone version of the song MJ sent to him, all funked out P style saying, "Now this is BAD", or something like that. Funny Quincy never said anything about that, though. I would love to know how Michael received that version of his song.

--

My question is this - regardless of the lyric, wouldn't this have been an epic collab? It's too bad they never did anything artistically together - and props to MJ for reaching out, and on and on .... BUT DON'T YOU WANT TO HEAR THIS TRACK?! I think it would be amazing - perhaps that's one of the treasures in the vault.

Maybe one day we'll hear it ... hint, hint, Ms. Sharon L Nelson?? biggrin

--

*(paraphrasing - don't remember the actual quote - but it's pretty accurate)

I have no proof of anything but I'll always believed they have collaborated we just haven't heard it. After Prince's death I heard several people over the years have dropped by Paisley Park to jam with Prince. Patti Labelle,Erykah Badu, D'angelo, Anthony Hamilton and others. With the exception of Patti I've never heard Prince with any of the other artist but it's logical to assume imo He and Mike have recorded something together.

I can guarantee you it s not true.
I met a lot of MJ engineers, and nobody ever heard a story like that. And they heard a lot of stories.
.
Not only that, but there are stories with their girlfriends : MJ trying to seduce Sherylinn Fenn, Prince banging with the girl from TWYMMF...
.
There was a rumour that when Prince went to I don't know what studio anymore, listening to the History album ( he said it was "good") he recorded background vocals for 2BAD.
.
Because of the way the song is written, because of his venue in the studio, because it was produced by Jam and Lewis, because the chorus (yeah yeah yeah) looked a lot like Alphabet Street...
Some still hears Prince in this song.
.
But the truth is that if they did record a song together, it would have been leaked and well documented. And frankly, the only time they could did it would have been in the 2000's, and we all know that MJ wasn't really available in the 2000's...

Yep, looped with the good parts looped. Prince on top of the mix and looped with Madonna’s horrible vocals mostly eliminated. The original is a mess. The only thing that makes this track listenable is of course Prince’s guitar work and his trademark beats.

On a more serious note, some (very few, but some) fanmade mixes are undeniably good (certainly not this one, it's a butcher's job), but I've always taken a strict stand against them, because they often end-up being confused with official, artist-sanctionned material.

Not that it matters because it ain't gonna stop people from making and leaking them, but I still feel I have to say it each time I run into one wink

Wow. Thanks a lot for this. Funny how there's still stuff to discover, even after decades have passed.
What a kick-ass solo, a tad too buried in the mix to my tastes, but I can understand,
it oozes personality so much it really would have turned it into a "duet",
had this extended version landed on the album. There was enough Prince already.

Don't you think your judgment is a bit harsh, Dancing Cat?

It was never intended to be a single, or a sing-a-long song for that matter.
It's an experiment, it's intended to make you feel a discomfort.

I think it was pretty brave for Madonna, and that is one of the reasons why Like A Prayer
is considered her first mature work (before the even more adult Ray Of Light).

It's a depiction of the inner turmoil she experienced at the time,
being torn between staying true to her roots, family and faith ("Oh Father", "Keep It Together", "Like A Prayer"),
her failed vows with Penn ("Till Death Do Us Part", "Cherish", "Love Song"),
and the world fame she achieved in just three albums before this one
and how it all messes up with your mind.

"Act Of Contrition" is about her world falling apart, the album itself crumbling on its basis,
she could have closed it with a happy ending, but no, she destroys it all,
and the last ten seconds ("whaddaya mean it's not in the computer???")
still scare the beejesus out of me.

Because it's not just a restaurant reservation. It's Louise standing at the Pearly Gates,
waiting to be admitted, with Saint Peter going through the guest list.

It's self psycho-analysis, it's not supposed to be "Everybody".

The album starts with a prayer, and ends with satanic forces taking control of the SSL desk.
Flying faders go their own way, the Ampex goes backwards, it's a doom.

Between this and the über-experimental "Love Song", I say pretty brave for multi-million seller.
I'm sorry if I always come back to bashing little poor Michael (out of love),
but he never attempted something resembling that. He never went to a true, dark, evil place.
It would have done him some good, killing his father through a song. It could have saved him.

"Bad" my ass, Mike. You never knew about Eros and Thanatos.
While many are content and thankful precisely because of that, I kinda despise
this childish behaviour that pretends to be OK with living in Smurfland®,
with an "universal" song here and there, just to play the offended at the system ("Heal The World", "Earth Song"),
while sucking frantically the tits of capitalism, a little charity for good conscience,
and then hiding in the kids room, terrified of the world.

Shamone, grow up a little.

Oh darn.

Too late.

Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams
