Nothing Compares 2 U (Cinematic Mix)

This sounds great. I dedicate this post to the folks who argued that NC2U with Prince's vocal came from a cassette minus any evidence. You clearly haven't got the ears to make such a determination, but you wouldn't be swayed. The cinematic remix proves this point. It starts with Prince's vocal completely alone, then some strings enter for a while. The "band" eventually enters and it sounds completely different from the other mix you're convinced came from a cassette. This mix wouldn't have been posible if Prince had deleted his vocal from the multitrack. It sounds awesome and I strongly recommend checking it out.

Absolutely agree - it's wonderful. Probably my favorite version, so far.

I've been saying it from day one that I saw that post/thread about the releases from cassette... There's no way they could ever get a cassette to sound that good and still mix it with foreign (not in the same mix) instruments perfectly...

The Cinematic Mix seens like the more polished version before it was finally recorded by St. Paul. Like mentioned above, this is definitely my favorite version of the song.

I agree with all you guys.......we have all been bamboozled in regards to the cassette.

This is a far superioir version imo than what they released, just sounds more organic and whole.

Yeah, it's totally impossible that the first mix was done with substandard sources, while this new mix was done with a newly discovered multitrack.

Like I said on the Originals thread, if you put this version in the right Hollywood tearjerker you'd have a whole new superhit.

It's awe inspiring.

Where are you guys hearing this mix? On a Warner Brothers European or Japanese website? Can it be bought, yet?

Sure, you do not have an argument against the actual mesage, don't you?

So you play against the person.

Fairly weak is that in reality.

That is the same mindset as seen in the US congress.

An absurd idea against free speech.

.

If you cannot stand the way the nice message is delivered, grow some skin.

.

.

BTW: The mix might be nice, but it is not Prince-approved.

So I am in severe doubts about time correctness of things.

Hi William,

Unfortunately it's only available on the standard Japanese version and an exclusive edition sold at Target in the US.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet either. Fingers crossed their will be a more accessible way to buy / stream it soon. Have a good weekend.

Edit due to a typo / poor grammar. Sorry about that.

Purchased mine last week in Tower Records Tokyo - although the 16 track version wasn't in the Prince section. A helpful employee took me to a wall with new releases on it.

It was the most comprehensive selection of Prince music I've seen in a store - including the Versace Experience cassette.

Yes — Tower records Tokyo keeps an amazing selection of Prince-related stuff. Was amazed to find Rock in Rio on CD there. Cheers!

Second the motion. When was the last time Bart added real value to any discussion?

.

Denying that people should be able to find their info by themselves in a few obvious places is a millennial-type situation. Its is weak and denying that people should grow up.

You should behave like an adult and not like a child.

Bart was simply pointing the way and expressing some disappointment about people being unable to dig up some simple info.

This is 2019, not 1996. Everyone is on their phones. If they cannot find info, then what are they doing there?

If you think that that is a reason to deny someone access you are in the same ballpark as this US congress person.

.

He needs to go. Bart is toxic

.

No, allowing stupidity is toxic.

Stupidity is distracting from the core issues, discussions on this site.

.

and, after many years, one of the reasons I avoid coming to this site.

.

Why then are you here?

Why then did you not grow some skin?

Why then can't you still argue against the actual message coming from bart but only argue about the shape of things?

.

This site is integrated with Google.

.

Google is evil and needs to be split up.

They left the 'don't be evil' thing.

.

I can’t help but wonder how much (more) ad revenue

.

You see ads on this site!?!?!?!?!!!!

.

So why do we need to put up with him?

.

If money in someone else's pockets is your sole reason to be unable to explain what is wrong with Bart's message then either you must be the site owner (Ben is gone?) or you must be delirious because in capitalistic america someone else's money is not your problem.

.

FWIW: I do kinda like the Cinematic Mix.

I am in doubt about accepting it. Did Prince envision this song this way?

Hi Leecaldon,

.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I'm based in the UK where decent record stores are in decline. Fortunately I do know a mail order place that I'm sure will get an import copy at some stage. I'm sure I'll get my hands on it eventually. I'm perfectly satisfied with the standard album for now. smile

The japanese version has the extra track and lyrics booket. You can get it through Ebay circa £21.

I do wonder though, if they now have the multitrack available to them with Prince vocals, clare fischer orchestra and all, why make this mix? Why not just recreate the Family album mix? That is still the definitive version, afaic.

.

Or to put it differently, if this was not a mix that was found and happened to be some intermediate state between Prince tracking it and preparing the Family album, why not explain the process that created this mix and why did they do it this way?

I don't follow your logic.

A person is seeking information. They can either a.) type their question into a Google search box, or b.) type their question into an Org post. Either way they're, in essence, "asking the Internet".

And either way, the response they read will have been written by a human being. The only difference is if they ask Google they will get a static response (written by someone in the past for a general audience). Whereas if they ask the Org they will get an interactive response (written realtively contemporaneously by somone speficially for them).

It appears you and Bart are arguing that learning through interactive means is "stupid"? You believe it's somehow more intelligent to learn through static means? Is that right?

Do you have kids? Do you teach them that only "stupid" people learn through conversation? If yes, please explain why learning through interactive means is unintelligent.

When you mean interacting with google etc then you are wrong.

In case of interacting with 'people' for such simple questions you know the drill.

.

.

Static means? Do you think google is static?

.

Do you have kids?

.

You are digressing here.

Upbringing is leaving much to be desired the past few decades.

.

Also: kids are smart enough to figure out things by themselves once they learn a few basics.

.

In this specific case the issue is more like: I am unfamiliar with google and google's abilities, I also cannot think about where such info might be found, etc than about simply helping with a question that one cannot easily find an answer to.

.

If one can find answers in a few clicks, then why can't the other?

Is it lazines? Stupidity? I don't know.

Wow, you totally avoided my question. For example, you side-stepped it by nit-picking my use of the term "static". Perhaps that wasn't the best choice of words, but surely you know what I meant (I was differentiating between reading online info that was written at some point in the past that was not directed at you, versus reading online info that was written relatively contemporaneously and at aimed at you).

Again, the only difference between typing a quetion into a Google search box and typing a question into an Org posting is that the latter generates an interactive reponose, i.e. a conversation.

Please answer my question:

Why is learning/aquiring info through conversation "stupid"?

Why is learning/aquiring info through conversation "not learning for yourself"?

Why is learning/aquiring info through conversation "lazy"?

It's ironic that you call those people stupid, yet when you replied to my post you were incapable of articulating why they're stupid. Sure, you suggested they aren't familair with Google, but that's a digression, not an answer.

Come on. You clearly feel you're smarter than them. Prove it. Offer an intellegent response to my question: Why is aquiring info through conversation (as opposed to reading an historical document) stupid or lazy? How is that not "learning for yourself"?
