They usually say where the auction item came from. This one doesn't. I'm curious who put this on the auction block. Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing
While seeking 2 give thanks 4 every breath we take

His handwriting and printing look very nice!! It's very interesting how the amount of cursive letters descrease further down the page, and there are more printed letters!!! ^-^
Very cool to see this page of lyrics!!!

Very revealing hand writing and makes the lyrics even more meaningful. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Was Carmen Electra around when he wrote this? This song was before her I thought. Maybe he had the name On standby waiting to bestow it??? But he used it here. I wonder if he had a list of names scratched down somewhere Waiting for there physical arrival.

I think he is talking about himself..living in a land where there were plenty of sin, he didnt know where he came from or where he was going. As for Electra, I have no ideal if it was before her. The ladder is in reference to "Jacob Ladder". Prince often include Biblical facts and verses in his songs. The reference to the ladder is found in the Old Testament

Gosh, I'd gotten SO MANY words wrong to this song. And it was one of my top 3-4 albums. 2nd line, I thought it was: "There lived a king wo didn't deserve did he." 5th line, I thougth was: "He never once said thank you, never frivilous." 6th line, "Now this king he had a subject named Malenga." And forget the whole 5th verse. I had no clue.

[Edited 10/14/18 22:53pm] Glad you misheard lyrics too, i’m Not one for reading the lyrics as I prefer to absorb the music via osmosis 😁. I do sometimes check out lyrics years later and am always surprised by how much I didn’t know. His name is Bart and he ain’t funky [Edited 10/18/18 12:45pm]

You make a very good point. I think he made an extreme effort, to write the lyrics out, that were'nt just pop song lyrics.

Hate the fact these items are being auctioned off.... these are precisely the kind of items that should be protected and kept at Paisley, on display.
